Follow these rules and you will enjoy your purchase for years to come: wash your sweater inside out and do not wash it warmer than 30ºC. Wash with similar colors and use a mild detergent. Preferably not in the dryer and certainly not wrung dry. So patience. Dry by laying flat on a drying rack (in the shade). Iron inside out at a low temperature (see washing label). When in doubt… ask your mother!
