In 1986, Liverpool FC became champions of England and won the FA Cup. Liverpool came close to winning the treble, but failed in the semi-finals of the League Cup. The success was partly due to club top scorer Ian Rush. In this season he would score a total of 33 goals. Liverpool did not play in Europe after the Heysel drama in '85. All English football clubs were excluded from European participation. The 1985-86 season was Kenny Dalglish's first season as Manager. The selection included players such as Ian Rush, Jan Molby and Craig Johnston.
