The 1950 World Cup was the fourth tournament between the national men's teams of countries affiliated with FIFA. The final of the 1950 World Cup was between Uruguay and host country Brazil. Uruguay won the world title by beating Brazil 2-1 in the final of the World Cup. The 1-2 defeat in front of their own crowd (a record number of 173,850 spectators officially!!) was a national trauma for Brazil. Brazil took a 1-0 lead through Friaca, but goals from Schiaffino and Ghiggia allowed the Uruguayans to win their second title.
