In 1924, New Zealand's rugby team was known as 'The Invincibles'. This nickname was given to the All Blacks when the rugby team toured the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Canada and won all 32 matches abroad. In total, the team scored 838 points and conceded only 116. The team was managed by Cliff Porter, although injury limited him to 17 matches, including the test against France. Vice-captain Jock Richardson took over the captaincy for the remainder of the tour. The team included some of the big names in New Zealand rugby, including Cyril and Maurice Brownlie and the legendary George Nēpia, who played somewhat incredibly in all 32 tour matches.
