The 1962 World Cup was the seventh tournament between the national men's teams of countries affiliated with FIFA. The final of the 1962 World Cup was between Brazil and Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia started strongly and took an early 0-1 lead in the match through a goal by Masopust. A mistake by goalkeeper Schrojf allowed Amarildo to equalize and in the second half the Brazilians struck: 2-1 by Zito and 3-1 by Vavá, who profited from another mistake by goalkeeper Schrojf. The Brazilians were less brilliant than in 1958 in Sweden, but proved to be strong enough to retain the world title even without Pelé.
